Bolton Wanderers continued their 100 per cent record this season with a 3-1 win over Fleetwood Town last night, but the result was overshadowed by some of the decisions made by officials.

Star striker Dion Charles, who has been linked with a move to the Championship, was sent off midway through the second half after Charles grabbed the opposition goalkeeper, only for the goalkeeper to kick out.

It appeared that Charles could not keep his opinions to himself when talking to the referee, resulting in him getting his second yellow card of the night.

Shortly afterwards, manager Ian Evatt was also shown a red card after telling the fourth official that Charles should have not been booked, according to assistant manager Peter Atherton.

Despite the loss of their main man and manager, Trotters fans can be hopeful after the performance of Victor Adeboyejo, with Charles’ strike partner notching a first-half hat-trick, which would seal all three points in the end for Bolton.

Since joining from Burton Albion in January, Adeboyejo struggled upfront with Charles to find his feet consistently. Now with a full pre-season under his belt under Evatt, Adeboyejo is starting to show the quality that Bolton had hoped for.

Adeboyejo is top scorer so far in League One this season with four goals in three games, which is more than he scored for Bolton in the second half of last season. It is the perfect time for the Nigerian to picking up in form, with Dion Charles et to be suspended for their home match against Wigan Athletic.
