According to the South London Press, Bolton midfielder Erhun Oztumer was at the Valley on transfer deadline day preparing to sign for Charlton Athletic on loan.
However, as Bolton’s last-minute move for Ched Evans fell through, Oztumer’s loan deal also failed late on.
Oztumer signed for Bolton less than six months ago and was touted as the ‘Turkish Messi.’
Many Wanderers fans will remember the wonder-goal he scored against Bolton in League One.
Despite playing a part early on for Parkinson, Oztumer has fallen out of favour in recent weeks.
It’s a shame to see Oztumer dropped from the team. He’s been one of the few players to show any amount of creativity this season.
However, the issue is not with the midfielder but lies in the tactics of his manager. Phil Parkinson’s reliance on hoof-ball has meant that Oztumer, who isn’t the tallest of players, gets bypassed more often than not.

Therefore, he’s lacked the chance to get on the ball and make an impact on the game.
Although, saying that, the breakout of Luca Connell into the first team, who is a similar player to Oztumer, could signal that something else is afoot.

Perhaps Bolton’s poor form this season has caused a falling out behind the scenes which has resulted Oztumer’s omission from the first team? Who knows?
Whether or not the midfielder can get the chance to regain his spot in the team remains to be seen.
