Bolton’s Mark Little hasn’t played much football this season.

However, the defender will be hoping he can return to the first team after manager Phil Parkinson said yesterday that he would be offering his players a ‘fresh start.’

Parkinson’s message is a clear signal that players on the fringes of the first team might be afforded a look-in over the next few matches.

One such fringe player is Mark Little

The Wanderers full-back has seen fleeting amounts of action this season thanks to the signing of Poland international Pawel Olkowski.

Little has only managed 90 minutes of game time this season, the lowest across the whole squad. Meanwhile, Olkowski has played in every game but one this season, amassing 1431 minutes of game time so far.

But after Parkinson spoke of giving his players a clean slate this week, could Mark Little be making his return to the first team fold this weekend?

Why give Little a chance?

The full-back had a solid season last year. However, after a sending off against QPR, he fell out of favour with Parkinson.

Little’s right-back counterpart this year Olkowski had made an impressive start to life at Bolton. His early season performances made him one of the standouts in the team’s early-season success, but in recent weeks the Pole’s form has been shaky at best.

With Bolton looking to salvage their season, it could be the perfect opportunity for Little to lay claim to the right-back position for the coming games.

Some Bolton fans took to Twitter to offer support for Mark Little and believe he should be given a chance to prove himself.
