After playing two of the league’s top teams in Norwich and Leeds in the last two weeks, Wanderers now have a chance to build some momentum. This weekend the Trotters will travel to Swansea for a tricky fixture that could prove fruitful.
Swansea currently sit 14th in the Championship and their form has been up and down of late. Like Bolton, Swansea have one win in their last five games.
The last time the two clubs met back in November, it was Swansea who came out on top with a 1-0 win. Phil Parkinson’s side will be desperate for a different result this time out however. With one win in 2019 so far, it’s high time that Wanderers put together a good run of results.
However, Swansea’s Oliver McBurnie could pose a real threat to Wanderers’ back line. The striker has 17 goals to his name so far this season and could add more if Bolton aren’t careful.
Previous seasons’ form against Swansea doesn’t offer the best insight into Saturday’s game. The two clubs have met just four times in the last 25 years. Before this season, the last time the clubs met was the 2011/12 season.
With news of a potentially imminent takeover hopefully boosting moral in the camp, surely Wanderers have to go for the win.
Their defensive approach against Leeds and Norwich failed to pay dividends and with time running out for Bolton to save their season, it has to be all or nothing for Phil Parkinson’s side.
