According to the Bolton News, Phil Parkinson will freshen his squad up for Saturday’s FA Cup game against Walsall.
Speaking to the Bolton News, Parkinson said: “There are players who will come in and get an opportunity because we have had a lot of football over this last period.”
The manager’s message is a clear sign he is planning to rotate the squad.
There can be no better time to shake up the team after Bolton’s heaviest defeat in three years against Hull on New Year’s Day.
Who’s in line for a call-up?
But a surprise call-up could be in store for former Spurs youngster, Joe Pritchard, according the report.
The midfielder has regularly played a part in the Bolton Under-23s this season. He could make his first team debut this weekend after being named on the bench against Hull.
Whoever does end up in the team, Bolton will feel they have to get a result against Walsall.
The Saddlers currently sit 15th in League One and knocked out Sunderland to reach the third round.
Walsall will be no pushovers by any means, but the FA Cup tie is a must win game for Bolton if they hope to build any sort of momentum to keep them in the Championship.
