Last week, Bolton midfielder Josh Vela signalled his intentions to leave the club after 17 years with the Wanderers.
Naturally, that sparked a lot of attention in the midfielder. In recent years, Vela has been one of the most-wanted players in Bolton’s squad. The likes of Cardiff and Leeds have regularly been on the look-out to snatch the midfielder away.

Now though, Vela is allegedly being targeted by a newly promoted side to League Two, Salford City, according to the Bolton News’ Marc Iles.
However, the 25-year-old midfielder has ruled out a move to his hometown club via a misspelled tweet.

Vela claims that Salford can’t afford a player of his talents. Ironically though, Salford City are almost certainly more financially stable than Bolton Wanderers currently.
Josh Vela has been with Bolton Wanderers since the age of 8. He has worked his way through the youth setup to become one of the most-loved players on the terraces.
The midfielder’s finest season at the club came in 2016/17, the promotion-winning campaign from League One. Vela’s tenacity made him a real handful for opponents and, moved into a more attacking role, Vela was able to notch an impressive 10 goals.

Since then, Vela’s opportunities in the first team have slowly dwindled, leaving the midfielder with little choice but to call time on his Wanderers career.
Vela’s presence in the team will surely be missed. However, after dedicating most of his life to Bolton Wanderers, we have to wish Josh all the best for his footballing future regardless of where he ends up.
