Bolton Wanderers predicted Xi vs Middlesbrough

Bolton Wanderers face Middlesbrough at the University of Bolton stadium on Tuesday evening, in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Wanderers’ will be looking to bounce back after failing to win in their last two in League One. They drew 1-1 away at Burton Albion on Saturday afternoon, and before that took a thumping 4-0 loss at home to Wigan Athletic.

They progressed into the second round by beating League Two Barrow 1-0, courtesy of a goal from loanee Zac Ashworth.

Middlesbrough meanwhile have had a poor start to the season after reaching the play-off semi-finals last season, failing to win any of their first four games in the Championship. They progressed to the second round by beating Huddersfield 3-2, away from home.

Bolton will be without captain Ricardo Santos after he hobbled at half-time on Saturday with an ankle injury, although the timescale for how long he will be out for is unknown. George Johnston is out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery to repair his anterior cruciate ligament.

Eoin Toal could make an appearance after being passed fort for the first time since the play-off semi-finals.

Joel Coleman may be given a start so Nathan Baxter can be rested, whilst Ricardo Santos could be replaced by summer signing Will Forrester. Dan Nlundulu and Zac Ashworth could be given starts to replace Kyle Dempsey and Randell Williams, whilst the attacking two of Victor Adeboyejo and Dion Charles, who signed a new contract on Sunday, could be rested with veteran Cameron Jerome and Carlos Mendes Gomes given starts.
