Bolton Wanderers are nearing their seventh summer signing in the form of Luton Town attacker Carlos Mendes Gomes.
According to the Bolton News, the 24-year-old is set to become the Wanderers’ latest arrival as Ian Evatt’s side begins to take shape ahead of the upcoming campaign after the additions of Nathan Baxter, Joel Coleman, Josh Dacres-Cogley, Dan Nlundulu, Will Forrester and Zach Ashworth.
Gomes spent last season on loan in League One with Fleetwood Town where he excelled, scoring nine times and assisting four in 37 appearances as the Cod Army achieved a 13th placed finish.
The Spaniard initially signed for Luton in the summer of 2021 after his impressive performances in League Two for Morecambe.

During the 2020/21 campaign, Gomes scored 16 goals and registered five assists as he helped the Shrimps win promotion to the third tier via the play-offs.
Prior to his loan move away, the attacker made just 15 appearances for the Hatters, though he did score twice and grab an assist in that time.
Now that Luton are a Premier League outfit, it is seemingly evident that Gomes no longer has a place in the squad. Fortunately for the Wanderers, they are poised to capitalise.
Boss Evatt has spoken on the likely addition, saying that it is ‘close’ although not yet complete.
What will Gomes bring?
“As far as where we are right now, it is close,” said the Bolton manager.
“It is very close, but it is not done yet.
“He is multi-functional, multi-dimensional. He can play wide, he can play up front, he can play as a No. 8 or No. 10.
“He brings the ability to dribble and drive past defenders, to receive centrally in tight spaces and create.
“Hopefully we can get it finalised and over the line.”
It looks as though the Wanderers are set to land themselves a tidy addition as they look to push on from their play-off disappointment last season, and Gomes could well prove to be a difference maker.
