Bolton Wanderers have announced this afternoon that they’ll be offering a ticket price discount for January’s game against West Brom after complaints from fans.

The offer itself will allow season ticket holders of both clubs to bring a friend to the game for free.

There had been growing calls on social media for West Brom fans to boycott the fixture after the ticket prices were originally revealed.
Fan frustration really bubbled over however, when the game was rescheduled for TV coverage on Sky. It’s unsurprising that this happened. Expecting fans to pay premium prices for a game they can watch from their own home is never going to go down well.
The Twitter group Albion Fanatics were one of the main driving forces in the potential boycott and their tweet below received over 1,500 likes.

Speaking to the club’s website regarding the announcement, Bolton’s chairman, Ken Anderson, said: “I am delighted that we are once again able to reward our loyal supporters by enabling them to bring a friend for free for what promises to be an exciting game in front of the Sky Sports cameras.”

Anderson continued: “We are also extending the offer to our visitors, West Brom for their season ticket holders.”

What do fans think of the discount?

The offer appears to have gone down well with supporters of both clubs after this afternoon’s announcement.

The question now on everyone’s mind is will the offer actually entice any fans back the University of Bolton Stadium?

Chances are, Wanderers supporters are still unlikely to flock back to see their team in such poor form. Even with a ticket discount applied.
