Ameobi was crucial in several of Bolton’s early-season wins. He assisted goals against West Brom and Birmingham and scored to rescue a point in the away draw against Preston.
But since Ameobi picked up the ankle injury almost two months ago, Wanderers have struggled to find form, and the goals that got them wins earlier this season have dried up.
Phil Parkinson will be hoping the returning winger can bring some much needed quality and flair back into Bolton’s performances.

On his day, Ameobi can be a real talent and some of the goals he’s scored for Bolton show that. The trouble is that he often lacks consistency and can go without scoring for multiple games at a time. However, his quality on the ball is surely something Bolton have missed in the last two months.
It would be foolish to expect miracles from Ameobi after such a lengthy absence but his return will definitely be a welcome one for fans and teammates alike.
